Calculation of credit hours follows specific guidelines:
(a) Each approved 50-minute instructional session counts as one continuing education credit hour unless stated otherwise.
(b) All continuing education credits must be verifiable; otherwise, they will not be accepted.
(c) Interpreters may seek preapproval of any courses they wish to take. For each course preapproval request, interpreters shall submit a course preapproval form and a copy of the program schedule or agenda at least 90 days before the training date.
Request Credit Hours
Interpreters can request credit for courses they have taught or taken by submitting a form to the AOC before the CE compliance deadline. To ensure approval of CE credits, interpreters must provide the following information:
- Request for credit form.
- Verification of attendance, which can be a certificate of completion, grade card, letter from the course provider, or other verifiable proof.
- Program schedule or agenda (if not preapproved by the Committee).
Interpreters are advised to keep copies of all submitted items for their records. Incomplete requests will be returned or denied. Requests for continuing education credit must be submitted within 60 days of completing the course. Any requests submitted after this window will only be approved by the Committee for valid reasons.
